Tim Schabeck, PhD, MPM
Tim has assisted organizations by sharing twenty-five years of HIPAA experience, including twenty years of operational / managerial experience as the HIPAA Privacy / Security Officer at major organizations - including Henry Ford Health System (Detroit), and Genpact - an international company. Tim was also the vice president of GCI Consulting Group, Inc., and provided HIPAA consulting and assessment services to Michigan healthcare organizations.
Overall, Tim has over 40 years of experience in a variety of areas – management, information security, privacy, consulting, compliance, information technology, project management, audits and assessments, legal research, investigations, incident response, emergency management, crisis intervention, and disaster preparedness.
Additionally, Tim has developed and/or implemented systems for: a quality assurance benchmark testing system for hospital and physician claims processing; union membership; Taft-Hartley Trust Fund Administration; waste management; and law enforcement reporting. Tim was also a Unix system / network administrator, and a computer programmer.
Tim recently added “Notary Public” (commissioned in Michigan) to his “TIM tool belt”. The most common function of a notary is to prevent fraud by attesting to the identity of a person signing a document.
In addition to his many internal corporate newsletters, Tim authored and co-authored a number of books. Authored: Computer Crime Investigation; Managing Microcomputer Security; Emergency Planning Guide for Data Processing Centers. Co-authored: EDP Security; EDP Disaster Recovery; Managing Change. Tim was also the Contributing Editor for the international Assets Protection Journal.
Tim has made presentations throughout the US on the subject of computer crime. He holds a PhD in Criminal Justice and a Masters in Professional Management and is a member of ISACA, InfraGard, and the National Notary Association.

Community involvement
As an ordained priest since 1984, Tim served for 25 years as a chaplain for a number of organizations including Wayne County Emergency Management, Detroit Police, Wayne County Sheriff, and Plymouth Township Police.
He served in the USMC Reserves as Battalion NCO Section Chief, Intelligence, Detroit.
